Welcome!
Whether you are new to Mt. Hebron or are just switching levels, welcome to our chemistry class! I hope you will be successful wherever you end up, and that you enjoy your time with us while learning something new and useful. In order to integrate yourself into class as smoothly and quickly as possible, please complete the appropriate checklist(s) below as soon as possible (should not take more than a week).
If you are new to Mt. Hebron...
- Obtain a copy of the science safety contract from Mrs. Rosenberg, read, sign, and return it - this must be done before you are allowed to participate in any lab activities.
- Prior to the next lab activity, purchase a quad-ruled composition notebook (like this one) and set it up according to these directions. To do this, you will need a copy of the safety rules and the directions for writing a formal lab report (for GT Chemistry or for Chemistry).
If you are joining a general chemistry class...
- Print and read the syllabus thoroughly with your parents, ask any questions you might have about our policies, then sign and return the slip at the end.
- Check out a copy of the textbook from Mrs. Rosenberg and write your name in the front. If you are transferring in from a GT class, you must return your GT textbook before I can issue you a general text.
- Look through the chapters and topics that have already been covered, and make sure you have not missed any of the material. Our midterm covers semester 1 topics and our final covers mostly semester 2 topics (which are based on semester 1 topics). If any of the material looks unfamiliar, read those chapters and ask Mrs. Rosenberg any questions about the material you have in a timely fashion.
- Ask about the current quarter project and chapter homework. Depending on the timing of your entry into the class, you may be responsible for turning in one or both of them.
