Where to find help
Chemistry is a tough subject, and not everyone can get through it without a little help. That's okay! I am available for help after school in either room 206 or 208, most days of the week. But if you can't come in for help after school, the following resources are excellent ways to find the help you need:
Khan Academy Online Videos
If you're just looking for a quick explanation of something we're doing in class, look no further than Khan Academy's chemistry section. Khan Academy has thousands of videos on topics in all subjects which can be played, paused, rewound, and replayed as often as needed, and they do a great job of explaining material succinctly and thoroughly.
Howard County Library Free Online Tutors/Homework Assistance
If you need someone to walk you through a few problems, but don't necessarily need a regular tutor, try the free online tutors at Brainfuse through Howard County Library. These marvelous people are available from 2:00 PM to 11:55 PM, seven days a week, and are certified in math, reading, science, social studies, English/language arts, and writing. Just visit this link and enter your Howard County Library card number (you can get one for free if you don't have one yet), your associated PIN, then click "Submit". Select a grade level, select a subject, and hit enter, and Brainfuse will immediately connect you to a tutor in their Online Classroom where you can chat, browse the internet together, share files (like essays and reports), and work on an interactive white board. Bonus! If you create a login, you can connect to your favorite tutors from previous sessions and review or print past sessions at any time.
On top of online tutors, Howard County Library offers a number of other resources for homework help and test prep. Brainfuse will also give you access to a writing lab where you can get help with editing essays and developing your voice, style, and organization; a language lab for Spanish students; and practice tests, flash cards, games, and virtual study rooms for groups of students. There is even a link for "adult learners", where they can get help with passing the GED, writing a resume, prepping for a citizen test, and finding a job. The tutors have cleared background and reference checks, have bachelor degrees, have previous tutoring/teaching experience, and are trained and certified by Brainfuse to help with math, reading, science, social studies, ELA, SAT prep, ACT prep, and writing in all grades K through college. Once connected, the student and tutor can chat, browse the internet, share files, and work on an interactive white board together.

Science NHS tutors
If you learn best with a one-on-one tutor, face-to-face, you have a few good options. The first one is to sign up for a tutoring session with someone in the Science NHS. This can be done by appointment, whenever you need help. All you need to do is fill out the information on this page and an appointment will be made for you.
NHS tutors
If you need a regular tutor, we can help you find a Mt. Hebron peer in the National Honors Society to help you with your questions for free (they earn community service hours). These are students who have taken chemistry before and done well, and you will be matched with someone who we think will work well with you. This option does require some commitment and consistency, so please consider your personal schedule before completing the application form.
Paid tutors
If none of the options above appeal to you and you would prefer to have a professional tutor to meet with, let me know and we'll do our best to help you find one.
